Tokyo Tourism Growing and Growing!

The number of foreign visitors to Tokyo in 2007 was higher than ever recorded before, new data shows.

Tourists visiting Japans capital reached a total of 5,330,000 in 2007. This represents a 10.6% increase in overseas visitors since 2006 and shows us that orginisations such as Yokoso! Japan and the JNTO are really opening up Japan to foreign interest. After all, apart from of course the traditional aspects of Japan that fascinate tourists, the country is also home to many internationally famous attractions such as Tokyo Disney Land, Universal  Studios Japan and plays host to many important international events such as this year’s G8 summit meeting which was held in Hokkaido in northern  Japan.

Just to pick one example of the myriad ways in which Japan is opening up to tourism, as part of Tokyo’s  Royal Park Hotel's effort to make it easier for visitors to enjoy the Tokyo district of Nihombashi's old Edo downtown atmosphere, the hotel has created a "gourmet dining guide" in English to go with the "bilingual menus" now available at many of the eating and drinking establishments in the Nihombashi area. See…they do love us really!
