Updated Travel Advice to Japan

Updated Travel Advice to Japan

Over three months have passed since the devastating earthquake hit Japan......

Although we cannot forget what has happened to the thousands of people who lost family, friends, colleagues, homes, businesses, and the will to survive after the horrific earthquake on March 11th, it is crucial that we support the rest of Japan, now more than ever.

Excluding the affected areas on the north east coastline as well as the area around Fukushima, all of which are a far distance from the metropolitan Tokyo and ancient capital Kyoto (Japan's two most visited cities), Japan is now safe. If you don't believe us read what the officials are saying:

Top 5 Reasons to go to Japan

written by Tammy, our local Kyoto guide

1. Less Crowded
As you might guess, there are fewer tourists in Japan at this time. Although as time goes on, more and more people are coming to Japan and the attractions are getting more and more crowded.
2. Better Customer Service
If you ask anyone who has been to Japan what they liked best about Japan, the level of customer service will always be near the top of the list if not at the top of the list. Because of the decrease in the number of tourists, you can expect even better customer service now (if that is possible).
3. Friendlier
As we have taken tour groups around Japan since the earthquake, we have noticed that the Japanese people are now much more appreciative of tourists. As a result, they are now more open and friendlier than ever before, especially the older Japanese. In the past, they typically would not say anything to tourists, but lately we have been noticing they are opening up and will offer a friendly "Hello" and may even try to strike up a conversation.
4. Price
Because of the reduced number of tourists, many hotels, ryokans, restaurants, attractions, etc. have lowered their prices (including us - see our tour specials and discounts. It has been a very, very long time since travel in Japan was this economical.
5. Japanese People
Since March 11, many people have asked how they can help Japan and the Japanese people. At the risk of sounding self-serving, a visit to Japan at this time will lift the hearts, minds and spirits of the Japanese people and go a long way to help them recover from the disaster. It will also help the Japanese economy at a time when they most need the help.
