Recommended Add-ons

Yakushima Island 3 nights at local Minshuku

If your time and budget allows, we recommend adding three nights on Yakushima Island to this plan. Rent-a-car is the easiest option while on the island however public buses can also take you around. The island is quite mountainous and in 1994, the huge Cedar trees gowing in the mountains were designated as a World Heritage (Natural Property). Lots of trekking opportunities exist from basic mountain and coastal walk to the more adventurous paths. Or, if you're not a walker, then just chill by the sea or with the friendly locals.
