Japan’s third biggest city by population, Osaka is well known as the place where you go to eat, drink and be merry, and in more recent years shop. Osaka people’s friendliness is known throughout Japan. Osaka is home to Universal Studios Japan, the first Universal Studios to open in Asia, and Japan’s second most popular theme park. Also in Osaka is Kaiyukan, a huge aquarium, a spectacularly designed exploration of the sealift native to the Pacific. Kaiyukan also houses a whale shark, and is one of its main attractions.
The Minami area of Osaka is home to a large number of restaurants and bars. Exploring the Dotombori area on foot is highly recommended, as is taking your photo in front of the Glico Man (or Running Man) sign, which has been in the same location since 1935.
